While it’s important to avoid trigger foods like yeast for HS, we always like to talk about what you CAN and SHOULD eat – not just what foods you should avoid.
Here are some of the nutritious foods that you can enjoy if you have HS:
- Meats, poultry and fish
- Leafy greens and most vegetables
- Root vegetables like jicama, sweet potato, rutabaga and beets
- Fruits, including berries, coconut and plantain
- Healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil
- Many herbs and spices, including garlic, ginger and rosemary
- Sparkling water
- Herbal tea
- And more!
As you can see, there are a lot of tasty foods to choose from.
Focusing on what we CAN eat, rather than what we CAN’T eat, eliminates feelings of stress, anxiety and sadness—not to mention guilt guilt if we do happen to eat those ‘forbidden’ foods.
Once you get the hang of your new way of eating, it’ll become second nature and you’ll be surprised at the delicious flavors you can enjoy. Your taste buds will adjust and cravings usually go away.
